Toyota just revealed a new 4Runner SUV after almost 15 years. It looks similar to the new Tacoma pickup. The 2025 4Runner will have a hybrid engine for the first time. It will also have new high-end trims called “Platinum” and “Trailhunter.”
Dave Christ, a Toyota vice president, said the new 4Runner is versatile and capable. Toyota has sold over 3 million 4Runners in 40 years. This sixth-generation model has new features but keeps the rugged style customers love.
Toyota’s “truck family” includes the Tacoma, Tundra, 4Runner, Land Cruiser, and Sequoia. The 4Runner is the last to be redesigned on Toyota’s global truck platform, which started in 2021.
Toyota will announce the price of the 2025 4Runner later. The 2024 model starts at around $41,000 and goes up to over $55,000.
The 4Runner used to have poor fuel efficiency, around 17 miles per gallon, before updates. This product has been available for purchase since 2010.
The new 4Runner’s miles per gallon will be revealed when it arrives in the fall. Other Toyota trucks and SUVs now have better fuel economy.
Jack Hollis, from Toyota, said they’re balancing their truck and SUV lineup. They might make hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or electric models.
He mentioned the importance of having the right mix of products to reduce carbon emissions quickly.
The 2025 4Runner has two engines: a regular one and a hybrid one. The hybrid one has an electric motor. It makes 326 horsepower. The regular one makes 278 horsepower.
The 4Runner is available in nine variants: SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Sport Premium, TRD Off Road, TRD Off Road Premium, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, and Trailhunter. The Trailhunter has extra off-road stuff. The Platinum has more fancy features. They make the 4Runner in Japan.
