Morgan Wallen, who won 11 awards at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards for country music, got arrested. It happened late Sunday at Chief’s, a big bar in Nashville. His friend Eric Church owns the bar.
Wallen faces charges: three for reckless endangerment and one for disorderly conduct.
According to the police, the 30-year-old singer threw a chair from the bar’s roof around 11 p.m. The chair narrowly missed hitting the police officers stationed below. They saw it happen.
Officers watched security footage. They saw Wallen throw something over the roof. Witnesses said Wallen laughed afterward. Wallen’s lawyer, Worrick Robinson of Worrick Robinson Law, said Wallen got arrested for reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.
He’s helping the police. Wallen got released at 3:30 a.m. He paid $15,250 for bail. He has to go to court on May 3. That’s when his concert was planned. He’s supposed to perform from May 2-4 at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium.
No news yet about the April 20, 2024, replacement date for his missed 2023 show in Oxford, Mississippi. Also, unclear if his big show at the Stagecoach Festival on April 28 will still happen after his recent arrest.
Last year, Wallen said he needed a break for his voice on April 24, 2023, and canceled that concert. It was just 11 shows into his seven-month tour. He returned the money for the tickets.
“I’m really sorry, guys. I tried my best,” he said back then.
Morgan Wallen’s Lower Broadway Journey
Morgan Wallen has had trouble on Lower Broadway before. On May 24, 2020, he got arrested there for being drunk and causing a scene outside Kid Rock’s place. The police said he was acting badly, yelling at people after getting kicked out for breaking things.
They gave him chances to leave, but he didn’t, so they had to arrest him because he was a danger.
But now, he’s doing something positive there. He’s opening a bar called ‘This Bar’ in 2024. It’s going to be six stories high on 107 4th Avenue North. It’ll be a place for live music and eating. He’s naming it after his song “This Bar” where he talks about making mistakes and new friends.
Morgan is excited about it, saying it’s like his song coming to life. He’s grateful for his fans and wants the bar to be special for them too.
Morgan Wallen Misses CMT Music Awards
Morgan Wallen didn’t go to CMT’s Music Awards in Texas on Sunday. CMT took down his music from their platforms in 2021. This happened after a video showed him using a racial slur while drunk.
The prohibition has been enforced for a duration of three years.CMT said they don’t accept words or actions against their values of celebrating diversity.
Wallen was at Chief’s in Nashville after his successful shows in Indianapolis. Those shows set attendance records at Lucas Oil Stadium.
